I don’t do botox, fillers or microdermabrasion but I do this twice a year. . .

As a beauty editor, I’ve been offered Botox for free since my 30s and I remember saying at the time: ‘No thanks, come back when I’m 40!” But then 40 came and went and I still wasn’t that keen and then, all of a sudden, I'm 51 and I know it’s not for me. I’ll paraphrase makeup artist guru Bobbi Brown whom I adore:  “I don't shoot anything into my face”.

What I do love though is LED light therapy.

The first time I tried it I completely freaked out. The red light was insanely bright - I thought it was burning my eyeballs and I avoided it for many years. But then a very kind facialist convinced me to try it again and said she would massage my feet the entire time it was on. That sounded so good, I thought it was worth another go, and it made the experience so much more bearable and the result visibly worth it.

And the reason I know it’s results driven is because when I do have this treatment - once in winter and once again in spring - my husband always comments: ‘Your skin looks really good, Aidy’, What have you had done?”

5 reasons I love it so much:

  1. It’s non-invasive (and relaxing, as long as the therapist keeps massaging my feet or hands - so ask!)

  2. It noticeably plumps up my skin, wow!

  3. It shrinks the look of those large pores on my nose, yes!

  4. My skin keeps looking better for a few days after the treatment, wow!

  5. The red light is a mood-boosting, happy treatment once you get used to it (particularly beneficial for me in the cold of winter when I’m really missing the sunshine).

I keep it local and love https://www.ellabache.com.au/pages/coogee
