PERFECT PEEPERS KNOW-HOW
From plumping your skin to smoothing out finer lines (even the deeply etched ones!) here are the best ways to target signs of ageing around the delicate eye area. While no anti-ageing regimen is going to give you wrinkle-free eyes, follow dermatologist Dr Howard Murad MD easy steps for younger-looking skin.
CHECK YOUR HORMONES: The reduction of estrogen that happens during the years leading up to menopause affects collagen production and elastin strength in the skin.
WHAT WE GET WRONG: Not applying it correctly! The skin around our eyes is incredibly delicate, so using your ring finger will help ensure you don’t rub too hard.
THE WRONG FORMULA: Daytime needs an SPF15 or higher to guard against sun damage. At night, use a more intensive anti-ageing eye cream. Look for eye creams that include antioxidants or retinol, as well as deeply hydrating eye creams.
ON THE NIGHT SHIFT: Applying an effective retinol treatment before bed to tackle wrinkles and sun damage.
TREATS: Large pores, fine lines, wrinkles, acne, blemishes, pigmentation, dull or uneven skin tone.
HOW IT WORKS: It signals your body to produce collagen and new cells for firmer and smoother skin. It reduces pigmentation and clogged pores, making them look smaller, and reduces acne.
USE IT: At night only and build up gradually. It makes skin more sun-sensitive so always use SPF 50+ during the day.
CAUTION: It’s not for everyone and should be avoided for sensitive or rosacea-prone skin, pregnant or breastfeeding women.
