Top 3 purse-friendly foundations for  45+ skin

There is no way around it, foundation just gets trickier with age. Too much and it sits in my wrinkles, too little and I don’t feel like a more polished version of myself.

I do rate these three on performance and wearability which is most important. My top tip is that less is always more and be strategic with your placement. One dab on the forehead, nose and chin, and then blend outwards. I use my fingers and save brushes and sponges for special occasions as they tend to soak up much more product, which means you’ll go through it a lot quicker. (That’s a tip I learnt from a well-known makeup artist, funnily enough).

  1. Maybelline Fit Me, $21.95, Priceline priceline.com.au/maybelline-fit-me-foundation-30-ml  The same makeup artist told me this one behaves so much like a well-known luxe foundation it was hard for her to tell them apart.

  2. Lacura BB Cream SPF 15 (in Light and Medium), $7.99, Aldi  aldi.com.au/en/groceries/beauty/beauty-detail/ps/p/lacura-essentials-bb-cream-spf-15-50ml/ , Technically not a foundation, of course, but the coverage mimics one, and it feels lovely and hydrating on my skin. If in doubt opt for the darker shade.

  3. Natio Pure Mineral Foundation, $19.95, natio.com.au/pure-mineral-foundation  A longtime favourite due to the inclusion of the super-hydrating jojoba oil which gives a beautiful, clean-beauty glow to my skin.

NOTE: “I’m not paid to endorse these products, I only recommend products I believe in and know that work. If any of my content is in partnership with a beauty client I’ll tell you - full transparency here! And I will only work with sponsors to promote products that I have personally tried and loved. If I don’t love it and believe it works for women 40+  I just won’t recommend it.”
