is it a Luminizer or highlighter that i need?

“Do I need a luminizer or a highlighter - actually, what is the difference!?” For the past few weeks, I’ve been asked this question numerous times and there is a simple answer. What we 45+ ladies need most is a highlighter as it’s a quick way to achieve that gentle, natural-looking glow.

A  highlighter is usually housed as a creamy stick or in a little pot, and is best applied with your fingers to certain areas like cheekbones and just under the brow bone to catch the light, which gives the illusion of subtly lifting your face.  These two give beautiful results:

LUMA On The Glow Highlighter Stick, $39.95, www.priceline.com.au

Iconic London Multi-Glow, $70, https://www.myer.com.au

Trinny London Starlight $45, https://trinnylondon.com/au/products/the-right-light?variant=starlight

A luminizer or illuminator is a little bit trickier. It’s applied all over the face on its own or you can mix it with your foundation to make it a little easier to get right.  I use one the most during winter when my skin starts to look a bit dull - it does a great job of making my whole face glowy.  Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser Illuminating SPF20, $65, www.adorebeauty.com.au  is by far my favourite and drops 5 years in a flash. Seriously. This divine woman is a genius and queen of the classic lit-from-within French makeup look.

NOTE: I’m not paid to endorse any of these products. I only recommend what I know really works.
