5 TIPS FOR A GREAT CAT EYE EVERY TIME

It’s been worn for centuries, is timeless and sophisticated lifts the eye and works at any age according to celebrity make-up artist Jade Kisnorbo who shares her foolproof tips.

STEP 1: “It’s so important to prep the eye properly before you begin as the area can’t have too much moisture or the liner won’t stay and will smudge. I like to conceal both under the eye and on the eye lid to achieve an even colour and base'“.

STEP 2: “Lightly brush some powder over the concealed eye to ensure it all stays put or apply a skin-base eye shadow base.”

STEP 3: “The key is to place the liquid liner rather than drawing it freehand as this is where people tend to go wrong. Look down when first placing it on an angle as the surface is then smooth rather than when open and creased. “

STEP 4: “Place the liner on the outer corner of the eye and angled as if you were continuing to draw the bottom section of your eye outwards and not upwards. Draw it on a lot thicker than you think as you lose a lot of cat eye when you open your eyes. Continue to place the liquid liner along the top lash liner connecting it to the outer corner angle and half way along the lower lashes. Remember, place the liquid liner long-ways rather than drawing with the tip as this ensures it stays straight and clean.”

STEP 5: “Finally, curl and mascara lashes and if any mistakes are made apply a cotton tip with some concealer to sharpen or neaten the cat eye.”

CAT EYE VS WINGED EYE

The winged eyeliner is more top heavy and the angle is more pronounced. ‘As we age and loose elastin in our skin, the cat eye is more forgiving on the skin around our eyes,” says Jade. “It’s great if you have deep set eyes or loose skin around the eye area and the key is to go that little bit thicker on the flicks.’

NOTE: I’m not paid to endorse any of these products. I only recommend what I know really works.
