TELL-TALE SIGNS YOUR HAIR IS DAMAGED
If you answer yes to one or more of these you have a problem – but there is a quick solution.
Consult this 5-point checklist and you can make amends – and have more beautiful hair - overnight.
1. It won’t hold colour. Hair that’s dry and in poor condition won’t keep your beautiful salon colour looking amazing for weeks on end. But adding a nourishing, weekly mask in the lead up will dramatically improve its condition and colour- lasting ability. Pop it on while you go about mindless chores.
2. It looks lifeless and dull. Shiny hair is healthy hair. Celebrity hairstylist Anthony Nader has a quick tip but I’m here to tell you it’s tough going. He swears by a final rinse of cold water in the shower after shampoo + condition. It works. And if I can do it, anyone can.
Top tip: Hairspray can add some shine too. We both love L'ORÉAL PARIS Elnett Satin Normal Strength Hairspray, $10.99, hwww.priceline.com.au
3. You’ve noticed more frizz. Then your hair is crying out for more moisture. Switch to a super-hydrating shampoo and conditioner, and add a hair oil to your routine. Just one or two drops – no more! - in damp hair from mid-lengths to ends before you dry will cut down the frizz instantly.
4. It’s thinning and or/breaking. Be kind to your hair ladies! Elastics, while handy, might be doing more damage than good. A gentler option is a hair clip for a quick updo and also a wet comb in the shower – you do more damage by brushing hair when it’s wet and weak. Also, choose a shampoo+ conditioner that makes hair appear fuller in the short-term.
5. It feels dry and has split ends. A good trim will do wonders but when was the last time you updated your hairdryer? The latest ones use ionic technology to protect your hair from further damage while drying in optimum time. But don’t forget to still use a heat-protective spray.
